  • Double Time Pay = Hourly Rate × 2.0 × Double Time Hours
  • Shift Differential (per hour) = Shift Value × Total Hours

  • Gross Pay = Regular Pay + Overtime Pay + Double Time Pay + Shift Differential + Bonus
  • Taxable Pay = Gross Pay − Pre-tax Deductions

FAQs

1) What counts as overtime hours?

Overtime hours are hours paid above your regular rate using a multiplier such as 1.5×. Your employer policy and local labor laws define when overtime starts and whether daily or weekly rules apply.

2) What is double time?

Double time is overtime paid at 2× your hourly rate. It may apply on holidays, seventh consecutive days, or hours beyond a higher threshold, depending on rules and employer policy.

3) How does shift differential work here?

Shift differential is an extra premium for certain shifts. You can enter it as a flat amount per hour or as a percent of your hourly rate, and it is applied to total hours in the pay period.

4) Are taxes exact in this calculator?

No. Taxes are estimated using your entered tax rate and taxable pay. Actual withholding depends on your tax forms, filing status, benefits, and payroll system rules.

5) Why are pre-tax and post-tax deductions separate?

Pre-tax deductions reduce taxable pay before taxes are estimated. Post-tax deductions are taken after taxes. Splitting them helps produce a clearer net pay estimate.

6) Can I use this for salaried employees?

You can use it if you convert salary to an hourly equivalent and you are eligible for overtime (non-exempt). Exempt salaried roles often do not receive overtime, so results may not match payroll.
